Tui Na is an ancient form of Asian bodywork, most closely resembling conventional western massage therapy. Many of the techniques are similar — gliding, kneading, grasping, rotation, vibration, and oscillating.

The intent of Tui Na is more than the simple relaxation of a Swedish-style massage, as it seeks to influence the flow of energy in the body. It aims to correct specific physical difficulties. It is particularly effective for arthritis, sciatica, spasms, and tension in the neck or shoulders.

Tuina can be used as an adjunct to other Traditional Chinese Medical modalities to correct problems, or be used as a preventive measure, to maintain a healthy body and mind.

Company name's experts will evaluate the condition of the patient and will recommend the necessary treatment.

Patients need to wear loose clothing and remove shoes before lying on a table or floor mat. The practitioner will first relax your body, and ask which parts of your body are in pain, and needs the most care in order to attach the aid of treatment.

Advanced Tuina (Tui Na) practitioners may also use Chinese herbs to facilitate quicker healing. Sessions last anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Some of the most common conditions our Tuina practitioners deal with are:

  • Neck pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Tennis elbow

Tuina is not primarily for relaxing massage but instead is a powerful therapeutic tool for a number of various acute and chronic conditions. All musculoskeletal issues (Frozen Shoulder, Lower Back pain, Carpal Tunnel, RSI, Sciatica, etc.) can be treated, as well as various internal conditions like digestive, circulatory and respiratory conditions. Tuina is an effective treatment for sports injuries, and is a perfect massage to facilitate rehabilitation.

The function of Tuina therapy is to remove blockages and stagnation in order for the body to heal itself. If we take the example of a Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), poor posture, or continuous movements that cause a blockage of the Qi and blood, these lead to stagnation and pain. This may cause inflammation, which can further cause stagnation, and the problem can become chronic.

Whilst other massage techniques may focus on relieving tension in the area through pressure, Tuina, instead, will use manipulation and massage, to eliminate the stagnation of energy and blood by freeing the muscles and joints, and stimulating blood, Qi, and lymphatic flow. Once this blockage is eliminated, the body will naturally heal itself, and the inflammation and tension will be relieved.

Therefore, Tuina, much like acupuncture, takes a root cause approach to the problem, and believes that any bodywork should be about encouraging the body to heal, rather than alleviating symptoms temporarily. This applies to musculoskeletal as well as internal conditions.

All of our tuina therapists are trained in Chinese Medicine, so treatment will begin with a more extensive consultation, possibly with tongue and pulse diagnosis. Depending on your conditions, this may be relatively short, or more extensive. It is important, because Tuina is concerned with understanding your symptoms from an internal and energetic viewpoint.
