What is Creosote?

Creosote is produced as a result of incomplete fuel burn in chimneys and wood burning fireplaces.

Creosote bakes onto the wall of your chimney over time. Creotsote buildup reduces the flow of air which reduces the effeciency and heating ability of your system. Creosote buildup poses a serious fire hazard if it is not removed from the surfaces of your chimney. Creosote is flamable at very low temperatures. Company name provides 3 stages Creosote Removal & Chimney Sweep Services.

Stage one: Creosote tends to be fluffy and velvety can be removed by using chimney brushes.

Stage two: Creosote is flaky or crumbly. This is the most common stage of creosote, but it can still be easily removed.

Stage three: Creosote — or glazed creosote– is shiny, black and solidly lines the chimney walls — it looks almost as if a thick, sugary candy shell has developed on the inside of the flue. Requires a special technique with experienced technicians.

We have a catalyst that may be added to a burning fire.  Once it’s been used a few times, we will return and use a powered rotary tool to remove creosote.  One more method we use: We first sweep the chimney, and then we heat the chimney. We then apply a chemical; this chemical changes the composition of the creosote into a removable form, once it has experienced 3 fires of at least 300 degrees Celsius, we return a week later and descaling the chimney, removing the remaining creosote.

This is very important because this creosote can hide defects in the chimney that can lead to a fire.

With our catalyst, the creosote becomes more brittle, making it much easier to remove from the walls of the chimney. Advantages of our creosote removal system:

* Reduces creosote odors

* Helps prevent chimney fires

* Effective on all types of creosote

* Reduces creosote in metal and masonry chimneys

* Chimneys clean easier and more completely when swept

* Use with all non catalytic wood burning appliances and fireplaces

Applying during the heating season to modify glazed creosote, making it easier to remove. Applying after every cleaning to make any remaining stubborn deposits safer and to neutralize the acidity and odors from the creosote.
